Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu is an ancient Inca citadel located in the Andes Mountains of Peru. It was built around 1450 and abandoned a century later, leaving behind mysterious ruins for visitors to explore today. The site is one of the most popular tourist attractions in South America, drawing millions of visitors each year.
Since its discovery, Machu Picchu has become one of the most iconic archaeological sites in South America. Its ruins are considered some of the best-preserved examples of pre-Columbian architecture in Latin America, with many structures still standing today despite centuries of exposure to harsh weather conditions.
The exact purpose behind Machu Picchu’s construction remains unclear; some scholars believe that it may have been used as a spiritual retreat or ceremonial center while others argue that it served as a military outpost or agricultural complex. Regardless, its significance can be seen through its intricate stone masonry work and impressive location amidst the jungles of Peru.
Today, Machu Picchu is Peru’s most popular tourist attraction and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983 due to its outstanding cultural value and contribution to human history.
On the other hand, the Mandor Gardens are situated near Aguas Calientes and offer a stunning view of the nearby cloud forests. The gardens provide a tranquil oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of tourists visiting Machu Picchu. Visitors can explore winding paths through lush vegetation while admiring the great biodiversity of the southern jungles of Peru.

Machu Picchu is an iconic Inca site located in the Cusco region of Peru. It was built using a combination of traditional Inca masonry techniques and natural materials found in the area, such as granite and limestone. The architecture of Machu Picchu is characterized by its finely crafted stone walls, terraces, plazas and temples that fit together perfectly without mortar.
The site consists of two main areas: the urban sector with residential buildings arranged around a central square; and the agricultural sector with terraced fields for farming crops. In addition to these features, Machu Picchu also includes other architectural elements such as water canals (used to irrigate crops) and drainage systems (to prevent flooding). Additionally, it has several ceremonial structures including temples dedicated to various gods or ancestors.
