Overview

Ausangate is a mountain in the Peruvian Andes, located approximately 70 km southeast of Cusco. It is one of the most important and venerated peaks in Peru, and its snow-capped peak rises to 6384 meters (20944 feet) above sea level. The mountain has been considered sacred by the local indigenous people for centuries due to its high altitude.

The area surrounding Ausangate is home to an array of wildlife including condors, llamas, alpacas and vicuñas as well as many species of wildflowers that bloom during different seasons throughout the year. A popular trekking route takes hikers around Ausangate’s base, offering stunning views across valleys filled with vibrant colors from nearby lakes and mountain sides covered with native plants..

For those looking for more than just scenic views, there are plenty of outdoor activities available near Ausangate such as climbing, mountaineering, or horseback riding which offer visitors breathtaking panoramic vistas from various heights.
